Stoke the fires; glowing logs of black birch and crackles of balsam fir resin fill the cast iron hearth and welcome us home. Crisp pine needles refresh our spirits, while the warmth of the wood stove thaws the winter chill from our bones. Set the leather boots aside to dry and stack the last of the freshly split logs for later. Pull up a chair and settle in for a singe malt scotch and a moment of respite. The snow settles on the blue berried juniper boughs just outside the window.

Hearth, being the center, or heart, of the home, nurtures our human needs. The desire for warmth, intimacy, a place to lay our burdens down, and a means for providing abundant food and energy. Fire is the electricity of life, stoking creativity, transforming fuel into heat, and providing humanity with strength and connection. The hearth is also a reward for our labors; we work hard to split logs, to stack the wood, to gather resources for the harder months. Fire at the end of the day is the gift.
Hearth revels in the smells of winter; evergreen trees, fireplace smoke, vanilla beans, and woods. It comforts and invites closeness, tempering the frigid weather with the warmth of touch.
Hand gathered pinecones, balsam resins, and fir needles are extracted for this perfume, along with artisanal vanilla bean tincture and a touch of rose and jasmine for heart. The florals in this perfume are present but hardly detectable, they are there to quietly lift and highlight the rest of the composition.

Gather perfumes are often limited editions for this reason, as well as the fact that some materials can only be obtained for small windows of time or no longer available at all.
